Self Massage for TMJD, Grinding, and Jaw Pain
Stop waking up with an aching jaw. Get guidance, tools, and structure that can help you find relief in 30 days.
Who this is for:
You wake up with a tight jaw, hear clicking and popping in the joint, notice yourself clenching or grinding throughout the day, or feel fatigued from chewing or limited in opening your mouth. Your jaw tension may also contribute to headaches, tinnitus (ringing ears), and sinus pressure.
.... Not to mention the underlying pressure of your stress. The more stressed you get, the more jaw, neck, and shoulder tension you experience.
You're ready to take things into your own hands. Maybe you want to extend the benefits you've experienced from receiving massage or PT and get relief between sessions, or maybe this is the first time you're trying manual relief for your jaw tension. Either way, you want to take an active role in your health, deepen your body awareness, and feel better in your body.
I am an intraoral-certified bodyworker (LMT and craniosacral therapist) and yoga teacher. In this course, I share my experience treating the jaw with a combination of massage therapy techniques like myofascial work and trigger point therapy and craniosacral therapy techniques (an osteopathic modality) that address the bones and nervous system. I also weave in yogic and somatic practices that help you cultivate the grounded awareness required to use these techniques effectively and safely.
As someone who's used self massage to make great improvements in my own jaw tension, I love empowering clients and students to do the same. What excites me most in my work is seeing you become more connected to your body and intuition, and therefore more empowered to share your gifts with the world.
What you'll learn in this class:
You'll learn simple, effective ways that you can soften and balance your jaw at home: a mix of external and intraoral (inside the mouth) techniques. We will not only work directly with the jaw, but also with the surrounding structures - even the shoulders and neck!
We won't just address your muscle tension, but also your nervous system, tongue position, and habits.
You will learn how to meet your body where it is with gentle intention, getting results with low time investment (each class will be under 30 minutes) and through consistency (you'll also get a quick daily routine to follow between classes).
Once you learn some key techniques and begin to feel the difference, it will be easy and intuitive to release your jaw. Knowing the form and function of your jaw is self-knowledge that will serve you for life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get a recording? Yes, each class will be recorded! If attending live doesn't work for your schedule, you're free to take classes on your own time. I encourage you to attend live if possible so that I can answer your questions and provide a more tailored experience (and because I actually want you to DO the class!!).
Are other people in class going to see me? No, your camera will not be on! You will also be anonymous in the meeting room if you choose.
Do I need any supplies? The only supplies you'll need are gloves for intraoral work. There are some other nice-to-haves, like massage balls and cups, but these are not required. (You'll receive all these details upon registration.)
Will/should it hurt? None of the techniques I teach should be applied in a way that feels painful - of course, this is up to you! I don't believe that more pressure = faster results. In fact, from what I have observed in my work, I believe the opposite: that forcing creates more resistance. I will coach you to approach your body with listening hands, patience, and a grounded awareness that will help you find your edge while respecting pain as the intelligent body signal that it is.
I'm already working with a dentist/PT for my TMJD. Is this course right for me? This course is a great complement to any care that you're receiving for your jaw. It will help extend the benefits that you experience after receiving care and help prevent post-treatment flare-ups.
