Influences & Lineages

I owe my practice to the generosity of teachers who have educated me and to the ancient lineages that have evolved bodywork and yoga.

The practitioners I model myself after:

  • are living examples of what they teach and practice.

  • work from an understanding that healing happens from within the client.

  • are rigorous in their study of anatomy and physiology.

  • understand the power of their role as a witness.

  • are loyal to their curiosity.

  • are more interested in noticing and working with what is rather than telling stories about why.

  • have spent years honing sensitive palpation skills: the strongest specialization that bodyworkers have to offer.

  • love working as a part of a broader care team.

  • acknowledge the reality of systemic violence and opression.

  • honor Eastern and Western perspectives and acknowledge the lineage of their practice.

  • honor indigenous roots and our connection to the land.

Bodywork has been practiced for thousands of years, in different styles across the globe. I practice modalities that have been influenced by many lineages from Eastern and Western cultures as well as those indigenous to Turtle Island. My most contemporary influences include the practitioners listed below and their predecessors, Ida Rolf, Andrew Taylor Still, Ursula PoppTom Meyers, Dr. Peter Levine, and more.

Thank you to my bodywork teachers and mentors:

Lauren Christman, Dr. Celeste SaenzRichard PolishukBroehe BallmanTracey Alta, Marian DiPernaRobert Zelesko, Bevin Keely.

The beginnings of Yoga were developed by the Indus-Sarasvati civilization in the Indus Valley (now India) over 5,000 years ago. The practice has been passed down from teacher to student since then. My training and practice fall under the ancient lineage of Hatha Yoga.

Thank you to my yoga teachers and mentors:

Finally, thank you to all of the clients who have trusted me with your care. You have taught me most of all.

I live and practice on unceeded Duwamish land.
